Part 2: Precedent Presentation / Brainstorming

Session Brief

Using a project brief and series of precedents from Part 1, educators and mentors will facilitate presentation and analysis of precedents and model critique. They will then facilitate a group brainstorming process.

1 Session

Educator Goal

Demonstrate ability to engage with and model critical feedback for applied precedents. Practice the facilitation of open-ended group brainstorming and student group selection.  

Mentor Goal

Practice conceptual collaboration with an educator, witness and provide feedback for basic project framing, gain experience in facilitating group brainstorming both through student engagement and inclusion of personal interests, knowledge, and skills. Collaborate with educators in introducing concepts and supporting students in 1:1 and small group discussions.

Student Goal

Effectively present critical precedent analysis.Participate in open-ended but well framed group brainstorming.

Outputs

Educator

Set of clearly defined and relevant student ideas (and potentially working groups) for Part 3.

Students

3-5 ideas w/ sketches/precedents for a proposed problem (approach) to the project. 3-5 ideas for solutions to each of the approaches proposed.
