Part 3: Ideation / Critique

Session Brief

Using ideas/groups generated from Part 3, students will brainstorm within a small group context to further refine ideas, participate in additional precedent and design research, work through ideas in sketches, and more deeply develop one idea through sketches.

Educator Goal

Actively support student group ideation and driving work forward through direct desk-critiques. Further support applied design research, precedents, and sketching as a tool for communication. 

Mentor Goal

Actively support student group ideation and driving work forward through direct desk-critiques. Develop collaborative repartee relationships with educators.

Student Goal

Practice ideation through collaboration using a rigorous approach to naming, supporting, and communicating ideas through brainstorming, precedent and design research, and sketching.

Outputs

Educator

Brief presentation on the purpose and mechanics of desk critiques and critique culture.

Students

A series of 3 well supported ideas for an approach, each with 3 possible solutions. One final idea supported by sketches of a developed concept.
